  • Ribbon Cutting for Sixth Street on August 4

    After nearly 10 months of construction, drivers, bikers, and pedestrians are invited to celebrate the opening of the Sixth Street Bridge. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4. Participants who drive should enter from the east and park at Brookside Park.

  • Street Construction Continues on Friley Road

    Friley Road from mid-block east to Gaskill Drive will close for four to five weeks for pavement removal and replacement beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 2. The City of Ames has contracted with Manatt’s, Inc. for street improvements including pavement removal and replacement, as well as storm and sanitary sewer improvements.

  • Safety Improvements Planned for Welch Avenue

    A pilot project to make Welch Avenue south of Lincoln Way safer for pedestrians and bicyclists will begin on Monday, July 25, when parking spaces along the east side of the street will close and the sidewalk will be extended into the street.
