  • Historic Preservation Awards Announced

    The Ames Historic Preservation Commission recently announced the recipients of the 2016 Preservation Awards Program. This program recognizes a variety of historic preservation activities, including work on building exteriors, site work, and other notable contributions to preservation in Ames.

  • Bike to Work Week Starts May 16 at City Hall

    The Ames Mayor and City Council will kick off National Bike to Work Week by hosting a free Bike Commuter Continental Breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. on Monday, May 16, in front of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. The event is planned for outside, but will move to the City Hall foyer if weather is a concern.

  • Union Pacific to Close Crossings for Repairs

    Union Pacific Railroad will be closing several Ames railroad crossings this week as crews move through the city replacing wooden ties and making track improvements. Railroad intersections affected include North Dakota Avenue, Scholl Road, Hazel Avenue, Clark Avenue, and Kellogg Avenue.
