Street improvements are planned for Clark Avenue beginning on Monday, July 17. Clark Avenue will be closed to all traffic from north of the Lincoln Way intersection to the railroad tracks. No through-access will be allowed at Gilchrist Street. Construction is anticipated to last six to eight weeks.
The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct, Inc. for Clark Avenue improvements, which include new street pavement, as well as sidewalk, pedestrian ramps, and underground utilities improvements. This is the second phase of this project. The first phase, which was completed last fall, covered Clark Avenue from the railroad tracks north to Main Street.
Caution should be exercised when traveling near a construction area. As with all paving operations, saw cutting of joints in newly poured pavement is critical and it may be disruptive beyond normal work hours.
